Rice doesn't grow in Mongolia, so it can't really be called traditional, but budaatai khuurga is a dish that Mongolians have adopted wholeheartedly. It's easy to order it vegan in any restaurant just by leaving off the meat. To eat mongolian can sometimes also remind of China. Since the old times, rice was imported from the southern neighbours, because it obviously doesn't grow in the mongolian climate. But the resulting dishes are still decidedly mongolian.
